District of Innovation
A District of Innovation is a concept passed by the 84th Legislative Session in House Bill 1842, effective immediately, that gives traditional independent school districts most of the flexibilities available to Texas' open enrollment charter schools. To become a District of Innovation, a school district must adopt an innovation plan, as set forth in Texas Education Code chapter 12A.
Tuloso-Midway ISD has chosen to pursue this opportunity for flexibility to create new opportunities that better serve our students by taking advantage of the following exemptions:
- State Certification Requirements for Teachers and Other Educators
- Teacher Probationary Contracts
- Designation of Campus Behavior Coordinator
- Minimum Attendance for Class Credit or Final Grade
- Class Size and Student/Teacher Ratio
- Inter-district Student Transfers
