Mr. Steve VanMatre, Superintendent of Schools for Tuloso-Midway ISD, began his leadership duties Monday, June 6, 2022.
During the past thirty-six years in the field of education, Mr. VanMatre has acquired a wealth of experience through a wide range of educational roles that include being a school custodian, paraprofessional, teacher, coach, principal, and superintendent. Each role has provided him with a foundational understanding of the necessary components that must be present to support a thriving, innovative, and successful school community. Along with his school-based experience, Mr. VanMatre holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education and a Master of Science degree in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
“It’s an extreme honor to be selected to serve as Tuloso-Midway ISD’s new superintendent. The district has long held a stellar reputation for academic and extra-curricular excellence. I look forward to working with the staff, students, parents, and members of the community through a shared vision of continued excellence,” stated Mr. VanMatre.
Mr. VanMatre, who is married to Barbara Caballero VanMatre, was born and raised in Benavides, Texas. The VanMatre’s have two children, Leo and Andreza. They also have two grandsons, Damien Michael and Adrian Brent.

Dr. White comes to TMISD with 12 years of experience from Lumberton ISD in January 2021. He began his career in Houston ISD.

Patrick has served TMISD and the District's endeavors in support of Maintenance, Transportation & Operations for over 13 years. Patrick joined the TMISD team in 2011 as Transportation Director.
